Construction of a pond on the site: a report on the creation of my film pondOpinion to get for your own site the pond came to me again a couple of years ago. However, because this work is labor-intensive and complex in terms of creative approach, its emergence was postponed indefinitely. Finally, during the time of one more vacation, I decided to be because of the occupation and to perform step by step all the activities necessary for the creation of the pond. It was decided to operate the pond with film, with a geotextile lining. Plant it with plants and start fish. For the sake of fish, install an aerator. Also, water circulation is planned due to a small waterfall with 3 cascades. It was made in the beginning, again before digging a foundation pit near a pond, from a pile of pebbles laid for a man-made clay hill. The water is fairly circulating in a closed circle through the pond in front of the waterfall using a cheap bottom pump.
So there is no reason for it all. Now I will proceed directly to the story of the construction of the pond, trying not to skip details.
Stop #1 - excavating the pit
First, I took a shovel and dug a pit with dimensions in the plan of 3x4 m. The form tried to act natural, oval, without sharp corners. After all, in nature, coastal strips are always smooth, without straight lines, such ones must be adhered to and be developed in an artificial pond. At the deepest point, the pit reached 1.6 m below ground level. It was allowed to perform less, but in my case it is meant the divorce of wintering fish, for which a minimum of 1.5-1.6 m is required.
There are 3 terraces for lifting the excavation. The first (shallow water) - for a depth of 0.3 m, the second - 0.7 m, the third - 1 m. All the way around 40 cm wide, so that it could be installed for their pots with plants. Terracing is made for the sake of a more natural looking aqua. Also for the sake of placing algae, through the species of which and quite obey the number of terraces and their abyss. Relative this must be delved in advance. For the sake of planting a cattail, for example, you need an abyss - 0.1-0.4 m, for the sake of the nymph - 0.8-1.5 m.

Stop #2 - geotextile packing
I decided to prikopat film edges and so firmly fix them. For a distance of 10 cm through the edges of the pond, I dug a groove, a depth of 15 cm. I laid the edges of the film inside and covered them with earth. Above, he imposed this occupation with humus. There was a real coast line, overgrown with grass!
Stop #4 - running water
Now it is allowed to throw water. I threw the hose into the pit and pumped water from the well. The water was collected fairly hours. According to the degree of filling the folds of the film were knocked down, they had to be sad. However, near the end of the stretch came out fairly uniform. Pond full of water, a certain time is forced to settle for the sake of setting a biobalance
And again, one fundamental detail about which it is worth mentioning. Together with the clean water from the well, I poured water into the pond from the natural reservoir. This is necessary to accelerate the formation of biobalance. In other words, the water from the reservoir with the already existing biosphere will help to establish the same faster in the new pond. Not enough balance, the water will cloud and turn green because of a few lives. And soon enough not to prompt a pond, but a marsh with green slime. The activation of the biosystem will also be promoted by plants planted in water for the bottom.

Stop #5 - planting and starting fish
Plants are separate content. I wanted to land abundantly only, so that the pond immediately, from the first days, created a kind of natural, natural pond. Consequently, I went to the bazaar and collected there marsh irises, callas, aqua hyacinths, pretty nymphs. For the sake of planting the shore, he took a couple of lobelia bushes, a coarse wormwood, white onions of callas.
In accordance with the arrival of this I thought it was not enough, so I made a sortie for the near pond (from which I drew water for the sake of biobalance) and dug out fairly the bushes of a young Rogoznik. It is enough to grow and water to clean. It's a pity that there is nothing more suitable in this pond. And then the desire to buy nothing. Probably you are more lucky and in a nearby pond you will find a plant for the sake of gardening your own pond. After all, virtually without a break, algae grow in our natural reservoirs. It is permissible to find a certain amount of luck and find a sedge, a red-breasted shrub, yellowish irises, a caluga, an ayr, a derbein, yellowish egg-caps and almost everything else.
For the upper terrace, I set up balcony boxes and baskets with planted carpenter, white-winged, aqua hyacinths, marsh irises. He planted himself in a languid, green soil, covered with pebbles from above, so that the fish did not pull the earth and did not pull out the roots.
In the baskets planted nymphaeus - I have them 4 pieces. I also covered it with pebbles. Set up baskets for an average terrace, the one that is 0.7 m deep. Later, according to the extent of the growth of the stem, I will exclude the basket below, until I set it up already for 1-1.5 m above the water level. For shallow water are planted in baskets and crates of algae
The flowers of the nymphaea last only a few days, then they are locked and lowered near the water. I went to the bird market and bought fairly suitable specimens of comets (almost a goldfish) and carasses - gold and silver. Only 40 fish! I let everyone out. Now frolic around the fountain. Pond with neglected fish looks wonderful!
For the sake of comfortable living fish was connected aerator. The compressor is 6 watts, therefore it works non-stop, according to the consumption of electricity is not costly. In winter, the aerator is mainly needed. Saturation of water with oxygen and polynyas will be provided.
For this, the master class can be terminated. I think that was very good. The real first indicator of this is pure water. It seems like this, I have a mechanical filtration. The balance is regulated by the abundance of plants, the aerator, the circulation of water through the waterfall and the fountain with a pump.
Which refers to money, then more money has gone for butyl rubber tape. The pit I personally dug, if you take off the excavator or the diggers' team will have to pay, but the digging is pretty much dug out. Plants are not extremely expensive (and if they are taken from a natural pond, then all - free of charge), fish - too.
